alaskan rockfish
Most species of rockfish average 1-6 pounds, with some weighing in up to 15 pounds and 2’ long. Pelagic rockfish include black rockfish, blue rockfish, dark rockfish, dusky rockfish, widow rockfish and yellowtail rockfish. These six species are typically a uniform color of gray, green, brown or black. There is no size restriction on pelagic rockfish. The non-resident limit for pelagic rockfish is currently five (5) per day per person, with no annual limit.

Non-pelagic rockfish include all other species rockfish. There is no size restriction on non-pelagic rockfish. The non-resident limit on non-pelagic rockfish is currently two (2) per day per person (of which only one may be a yelloweye rockfish). Non-pelagic rockfish have no annual limit except for the yelloweye, which is one (1).

Known as the "Alaska Red Snapper", they may grow to be 2 ft long and averages 10-12 pounds.
