Aurora sportfishing's history
Aurora Sportfishing was started in May 2004. The owner Captain Anthony M. Knuteson (Tony) was born and raised in Ketchikan Alaska. While growing up in a small house on the beach in Saxman, he learned about everything the ocean has to offer. From the power of the tides to the winds that make the house shake. At age 10 his father cut him and his brother loose with a row boat and said "Stay in the sight of the house." There is much more to those stories, but eventually he became a USCG licensed Master "Captain." Aurora Sportfishing acquired 1 boat per year starting in 2004, and by the end of 2014 the fleet consisted of 6 charter boats. Aurora Sportfishing has employed captains from as far as Florida. Beginning in 2014 Aurora Sportfishing became a 1 man 1 boat show! Currently Captain Tony does 4 hour cruise ship charters May, June and early July. Allday charters begin mid July and go through August, these are the multi day returning customers here to fill their freezers. September we wrap up the season with a little bit of both halfday and fullday trips. Once again there is much more to the story, but you will have to come fish with Aurora Sportfishing to hear all those tall tales!
